One of the most popular things to see in Hoi An is the Japanese Covered Bridge.

Built by Japanese traders in the late 16th century, its mission was to unite the Japanese commercial district (west) with Chinatown (east) on a small tributary of the Thu Bon River. Guarded by statues at both ends (dogs and monkeys), as you cross the bridge you'll find an altar dominated by a statue of Bac De Ong, one of the incarnations of the Jade Emperor. It doesn't take long, and there's plenty to see, so be sure to put the bridge on your list of Hoi An activities.

The Cantonese Assembly Hall is another of the unmissable places to visit in Hoi An. Built in 1786 by sailors and traders, its outside appearance resembles a pagoda, and it was also used to worship the warrior Quan Cong and the sea goddess Thien Hau. Walking through the old town you will find more things to do in Hoi An -- Hoi An attractions as interesting and varied as the Museum of Sa Huynh Culture, the House of Tan Ky, and the Tran Family Chapel.

Tired of the city and still wondering what to do in Hoi An? Try relaxing on the wonderful beach of Cua Dai, one of the most spectacular Hoi An attractions. Or visit the Marble Mountains, five mountains of marble and limestone which retain remnants of the Champa civilization. There are plenty of tours that will take you to these and other attractions in Hoi An, like the Chàm Islands (which can be accessed from the beach of Cua Dai) and the ruins of the My Son Sanctuary.
