    The city is located not far to the north of the Thai capital, Bangkok, and is easily reached by train in a little more than an hour.

    The ruins of the ancient capital are today the Ayutthaya Historical Park, which is recognised as a World Heritage Site by Unesco and is definitely high on the list of things to see in
    Ayutthaya. It is easy to stroll from the center of town into the park and walk among the beautiful ruins.
