Øksfjordjø?kelen Glacier
On our trip to the north of the country, in the municipality of Kvænangen, Troms County, we stayed in a wonderful little cottage next to a fjord. The friendly owners recommended a hike near the glacier Øksfjordjøkelen, the last glacier in continental Europe that leads directly to the sea. This glacier is ranked ninth among the largest glaciers in mainland Norway and its highest point is 1,204 meters, with an area of about 41 square kilometers. To get there from the town of Alteidet, you take the county road 365. The scenery during the journey to the glacier is amazing and once you see the glacier, you will be surprised by its size, even from a considerable distance.
