Zumbahua Market
Zumbahua is two hours from Latacunga. Generally people continue for Quilotoa Lake, a small natural wonder lost at the end of a road in the Andean mountains of Ecuador. On market day people wear their most beautiful costumes, children are free to do silly things, put stones on the road to prevent trucks passing, while parents buy the groceries for the month, and sell their potatoes and corn. The region around is wonderful. Very steep hills where they miraculously manage to grow grain to eat. It is one of the oldest markets in the country, and we can use to try the typical dishes of the region of Latacunga.
