Very quiet, surrounded by mountians
Zărneşti is a beautiful village in central Romania that is surrounded by mountains. It's in Brasov county, and near the Piatra Craiului Natural Park. It is a great entry point if you want to go hiking in the park. During the winter everything is covered with snow, and there are many winter activities like, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing.If you prefer downhill skiing visit the villages of Bran and Rasnov. It is a very quiet place, that lives in tune with nature. It has a total population of 25,000. There are several hotels that will also help organize your trip in the region, and prepare homemade dishes typical of the Carpathians.
Zărneşti is situated in a meadow, so the city is fairly flat and easy to navigate on foot. Prices are cheaper in Bran, so spend a few days over there. If you have a car it would be a shame not to.
