Fue nuestro primer parque y uno de los que mejores recuerdos vuelven a mi retina a día de hoy .Tal vez mi lugar preferido ; ansiosa de ver y fotografiar era " el Gran Prismatic " que no me decepciono , es una maravilla . Lugares de impresionante belleza , situados sobre una gran meseta , a una altitud de 2.400 mt y rodeado por macizos montañosos de las " Rocosas " Así comienza mi " Ruta por los Parques Nacionales del Oeste de USA " en Septiembre 2.014 MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS : Atraves de unas pasarelas hay un recorrido que nos aproxima a las formaciones y a sus terrazas de travertino ( mezcla de agua y piedra caliza ) Aquí el agua llega por diferentes fracturas internas del deposito volcánico , el cual esta a unos 35 Kilometros , lejos para ser un geiser . Unos manantiales de agua termal la mas profunda a ( 93*-C ) tan solo 8 Km de la entrada al parque , en forma de terraza se nos muestran con atractivos colores . Tambien depende de la estación del año y su cantidad de agua , ya que cuando están secas desaparece el color y si aparecen las rocas con un brillante color blanco . Discurriendo por superficie rocosa caliza a elevadas temperaturas ( mas de 70 * ) pilas calcareas de distintos tonos por las bacterias y cristales de sal , nos ofrecen un autentico mosaico de colores cromaticos . En los que la escasa naturaleza quedo atrapada en el tiempo . Imagenes muertas , que pasaron a la posteridad por las actividades geotermicas del lugar .
