Falling for Yaak
Coming out of the mountains right along the Canadian border, the Yaak River flows on to Troy where it becomes a major tributary of the Kootenai River. About 16 miles upstream from Troy, and roughly the same distance shy of the “town” of Yaak, the river flows over a series of stone ledges, the largest of which earns the name Yaak Falls. Though not dramatic as waterfalls go, the scene of clear rushing water and mature forest is exceedingly pleasant.
