Xisto Villages

Do Schist Villages are what make up the monumental and scenic landscape of the Sierra de Lousa and small houses are built with this stone from the mountain called "Schist", now many of them rebuilt. Some of these mountain villages are: Candal, Cerdeira, Chiqueiro and Talasnal. The village of Candal is clearly seen when we go up to the mountain, as it is on the same road, but not in the small village of Cerdeira which has a major climb. You can also acess the mountain by car and enjoy a great scenic view once you reach the top. The beautiful surroundings of the village are the best part of all, and in that village live an elderly couple and on the weekends the locals even visit to shop for small business gifts, crafts and restoration.
