Xela Night Market
Quetzaltenango, also called Xela, is the capital of the western part of Guatemala. It is a region with great Mayan population, more pre-colonial tradition and culture than probably even in Guatemala City. The markets are very important in the city because it is the main center of democracy, and there are several smaller markets in each neighborhood. In the night markets, visitors can find fruit and vegetables, in general those positions are those living in Xela, in the morning, products are sold to the market. But this night market is more entertaining than the morning. They sell CDs, most are copies of the greatest hits of the moment, meals like fried chicken and fries that you can eat walking through the market, as well as games and gifts for children.
