Xareta

4 pueblos vascos transfronterizos forman el pequeño “país” de Xareta. Por el lado navarro tenemos a Zugarramurdi, Urdazubi-Urdax, y por el País Vasco francés Sara (Sare) y Ainhoa. Dada su proximidad a las montañas y a la frontera, SARA fue considerada durante años la capital del contrabando. Hoy en día está catalogado como uno de los pueblos más bonitos de Francia, y todo el que va queda maravillado con él, con su cueva y su entorno. A no olvidar el paseo obligado en el tren cremallera que sube a Larrun (La Rhune), donde podremos disfrutar de una de las panorámicas más bonitas del País Vasco. AINHOA con sus típicas casa blanquirrojas y sus entramados de madera. ZUGARRAMURDI, conocido sobre todo porque antaño se celebraban akelarres en sus cuevas. Las cuevas se puede visitar, e incluso este verano realizaron visitas teatralizadas. Existe un sencillo camino de unas 2 horas, que recorre las 3 cuevas de Zugarramurdi, Urdax y Sara. Está señalizado con el “pottok”, que es una especie de caballo enano típico de esta zona. Ubicados en países diferentes, pero con un mismo lema “La misma cultura, un único y mismo pueblo”

Four border Basque villages form the small "country" Xareta. On the side we have Zugarramurdi navarro, Urdazubi-Urdax, and the Basque Country Sara (Sare) and Ainhoa. Today it stands as one of the most beautiful villages of France, and all that goes with it is astonished with its cave and its surroundings. A sightseeing must not forget the train that goes to Larrun (The Rhune), where you can enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Basque Country. The caves can be visited, and even held theatrical visits this summer. There is a simple way for about 2 hours, walking the 3 caves Zugarramurdi, Urdax and Sara.
