Heritage Site
The good thing about Maramures is its stealthiness. It is an area that hides his cards and takes advantage of the Transylvanian tourist pull to "catch" curious tourists. Those who think that visiting Brasov, Sighisoara and Sibiu is not enough for Romania end up looking around more of the north. And those travellers are lucky because Maramures never disappoints. Dispersed through different valleys, the eight wooden churches considered World Heritage by UNESCO in 1999 look similar: They have high towers and gabled roofs and inside they are covered with tapestries and paintings. But don't go from church to church admiring its architectural value but rather enjoy their surroundings, and above all, the journey along the road that connects them.
