Dobra
Pure Dark History
This castle is now in ruins. It's construction began in the 14th century, but suffered several fires. Unfortunately, it's famous because in 1609 the community held the witch trials there, and as a result of which, dozens of people, mostly women, were burned at the stake. The castle is not open to visitors, but you can see it from the parking lot on the main street. But if you want to see it better, leave the parking lot toward St. Jean de Luz and take the first right. The rear view is better.
