Amazing historical ruins in Mississippi!
The Windsor ruins are an amazing set of historical ruins of the largest Greek-revival mansion built in Mississippi. In the 1890's, a guest apparently left a cigar burning in an ashtray and the house caught fire and burnt to the ground, leaving only the 23 mysterious columns that we have today. What's neat about the Windsor Ruins, aside from the history, is that it's just so unexpected. Who'd think that you'd come across massive Greek-style columns in the middle of the woods on the Mississippi-Louisiana border?
Apparently, the house was quite famous and stylish in its time and even Mark Twain is said to have visited.
