Cold beer and palm trees
White Jungle Beach Restaurant is the small ramshackle snack bar on Jungle Beach, a lovely hidden beach about a 20 minutes’ tuk-tuk ride from Galle Fort. The snack bar sells water, soda, cold beer, and Sri Lankan tea, as well as some basic meals like fried fish with French fries.
We got there early in the morning and actually had breakfast there! We had sandwiches and tea and I’ll tell you that there are few things more relaxing than having your morning tea on a beautiful stretch of pristine sand between the jungle and sea. Total relaxation.
The rest of the afternoon, we frequented the bar for tall-boys of Lion Lager, the most popular beer in Sri Lanka. The prices are higher than you’ll find in town, but they still come out to dirt cheap…more or less a Euro per beer. Cold beer, palm trees, blue water, an no tourists…what else could you want?
