Wheatfield Project

Wheatfield è un'installazione realizzata dall'artista americana Agnes Denes in zona Porta Nuova a Milano. Quest'area milanese ha subito un percorso di rinnovamento durante questi ultimi anni, in particolare in relazione ad Expo. Infatti questo progetto artistico è stato realizzato seguendo il tema "Nutrire il Pianeta, Energia per la Vita", dato che si tratta di 12 acri di terra utilizzati dall'artista come grande campo dove è stato piantato del grano. L'idea è quella di mettere in evidenza problematiche sociali ed ecologiche, come la distribuzione del cibo e dell'energia sulla Terra o l'importanza della terra coltivata in un mondo tecnologico come il nostro, attraverso questo enorme campo di grano in piena città. L'opera è nata nel febbraio del 2015, quando il campo era costituito solo da terra perché il grano era appena stato seminato, e rimarrà aperta fino a ottobre, quando ormai il campo sarà mietuto. L'installazione è davvero particolare e anche un po' buffa, perché si trova in pieno centro città, come se una fetta di campagna fosse stata catapultata tra i grattacieli. Merita una visita, perché la zona in cui si trova è davvero splendida e l'opera molto particolare!

The idea is to highlight social and environmental concerns, such as the distribution of food and energy on Earth or the importance of the cultivated land in a technological world like ours, through this huge field of wheat in the middle of town. The work started in February 2015, when the field was formed only from the ground because the grain had just been sown, and will remain open until October, by which time the field will be reaped. The really special and also a bit 'funny installation, because is located in the center of town, as if it were a country share was catapulted among the skyscrapers. Worth a visit, because the area where is really beautiful and very special work!
