Clean and well cared green area
If the Temple of Debod is often unknown to the visitors of Madrid, its neighboring area is even less known, but the Parque del Oeste (West Park) is a lovely and a surprising green area right in the city.
It is the ideal place where you can find whatever you want. I was surprised at how clean and well cared for it was, no trash or empty bottle to be found, something one is grateful for. What we did find everywhere was statues dedicated to various people like Simón Bolívar, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz or Miguel Hidalgo.
Another peculiar detail is the relief made on the ground, representing a map of the Iberian Peninsula, you can distinguish (although barely) the silhouette of the peninsula, with the main rivers and mountains, the imposing Pyrenees in the Northern area of the representation. It gives the impression that in the beginning, the area corresponding to the sea was covered with water; the relief is in quite bad condition.
