The second oldest clock in Europe still in operation
South of Bristol, in the city of Wells, you can find one of the best works of English Gothic architecture. The construction lasted more than three centuries and began in 1175. It says that there are fees, but there is no ticket booth so if you are strapped for cash you can go in for free. :) The facade is perhaps the most remarkable part of the building with about 360 figures embellishing it. The interior is spectacular and very bright. It is interesting to see the medieval clock, the second oldest in Europe in operation. I have no idea how it work. I tried to understand it but I do better with a Casio.
