Wellington Column

Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, studied in the ancient city of Trim. He trained in Talbot Castle and at the Abbey of Santa Maria and later, the local bourgeois dedicated a column to him and his career at the place where Summerhill Road and Wellington Place come together. After defeating Napoleon at Waterloo, the Iron Duke was elected Prime Minister of Great Britain.
