Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, Washington Square Arch has become one of the most famous and iconic landmarks in New York City. It was built in 1889 by Stanford to commemorate the centennial celebrations of Washington's election as the first president of the United States. It is nearly 26 meters high. The square that surrounds it offers superb views of New York University and beautiful Greek-style villas. Well worth a visit!
