En sortant de la gare de Valenciennes, je me suis promené un peu au hasard et il ne m'a pas fallu longtemps pour comprendre à quel point la ville soignait son cadre de vie. Je l'ai déjà dit peut-être, je le répète : les statues, sculptures et monuments fleurissent, à chaque coin de rue. Voici l'un de ceux que j'ai croisé au début de mon périple. Il ne s'agit pas d'un monument aux morts, quoi qu'il en ait l'allure, mais il a bien une allure martiale, notamment avec l'hoplite que l'on peut apercevoir au sommet de la colonne. Les deux autres personnages, qui ont également l'air antiques, sont plus apaisés. S'agit-il de représenter les trois branches de la société humaines? La production économique, la défense et la politique ? ... Pourquoi pas?
