A Taste of the History of Logroño
Logroño had a wall once and, since 2006, with the recovery and remodeling of the historical downtown, pieces that had remained hidden began to appear. Today, as you walk through this central area (Barriocepo and Ruavieja) it is not unusual to see old houses with remains of the wall. “It began to get it the way of the city’s inhabitants, so they started to build on top of it (…) In theory, the wall passes under the buildings. In previous centuries, it had a much more pronounced height than what can be appreciated today. The reason is the gradual ascent of the ground”, an article explains, on the occasion of the excavations that took place in 2006.
