The executive and financial heart
If you want to be in the executive and financial heart of Paris, then stay in the Opera district where all the banks are. It's not necessarily very expensive and the Volney Opera Hotel is a good choice. Rue de la Paix and Place Vendome are close too, along with the great shops. The Volney is a small hotel, in a stone building that is typical of the neighborhood. The rooms are not large but are comfortable. They start at 120 euros/night, with breakfast. One detail that I really didn't like is that they charge for wifi, and seeing the price of the room it should be a free service.
