Virgen de Fatima Church
The Virgen de Fatima Church was declared A Municipal Architectural Heritage and a Historic Cultural Monument of the Province. The building still retains original materials, wood, and sheet board, with which was built in 1946, after the earthquake that destroyed the original in 1944. Its construction is very similar to the colonial style, and stands next to the Grotto of Our Lady of Fatima, which is built in what appears to be brown coral and contains a cave in which to deposit candles. Lots of plaques as reminders and thanks for favours received, made in different materials, are attached to its walls.
In the center of a square there is a fountain with a statue of a white angel. At its northern side they are building a new church but integrating modern features to the previous one. It is impossible to count the number of faithful who come on pilgrimage, every October 13 remembering the appearance of the Virgin of Fatima, from different parts of the province and the country.
