La Vieille Charité

La vieille charité est un bel ensemble architectural construit entre le 17 et le 18ème siècle. Il comporte une chapelle baroque centrale puis, entourant cette chapelle, des bâtiments des trois niveaux avec arcades. La vieille charité était avant un hospice, conçut pour enfermer les pauvres de Marseille. Depuis peu, une grande restauration a eu lieu ce qui permit à la vieille charité d’être classée Monument Historique. Actuellement, le musée d’Archéologie méditerranéenne occupe les locaux. Il est néanmoins toujours possible de faire un tour dans la cour, sous les arcades.

The old love is a beautiful architectural ensemble built between the 17th and 18th century. It has a central baroque chapel and surrounding the chapel, buildings of three levels with arcades. The old hospice charity was before, designed to enclose the poor of Marseilles. Recently, a major restoration took place which allowed the old charity to be listed monument. Currently, the Mediterranean Archaeological Museum occupies the premises. However, it is still possible to take a walk in the yard, under the arcades.

Cet établissement se trouve au cœur du quartier du Panier. L'édifice accueille aujourd'hui un espace culturel, une librairie et même un restaurant, mais c'était à l'origine un hospice pour les mendiants. C'est un monument plutôt agréable, avec une belle architecture. Le restaurant est assez bon, je vous le recommande si vous désirez prendre votre repas dans un endroit calme, tout en profitant d'une belle terrasse.

This property is located in the heart of the basket. The building now houses a cultural center, a library and even a restaurant, but it was originally a hospital for beggars. It's a pretty nice building, with beautiful architecture. The restaurant is quite good, I recommend it if you want to dine in a quiet, while enjoying a beautiful terrace.

Impressionnant monument du XVIIème siècle qui se situe en plein cœur du Panier, est à présent un lieu de représentations culturelles très agréable du fait qu’il est plongé dans le calme. Son architecture nous donne l’impression d’etre dans un micro village à l’intérieur du quartier du panier, cette sensation est renforcée par le fait qu’elle abrite le centre international de poésie de Marseille, une librairie, un cinéma, un café, ainsi qu’une petite boutique ce qui fait la polyvalence de ce centre culturel.

Situé en plein cœur du quartier marseillais du Panier, la vieille Charité est l'un des principaux monuments historiques de la ville, et l'un des plus remarquables également. Il fut édifié dans la deuxième partie du XVIIème siècle pour faire face à l'accroissement du nombre de pauvres et de malades en matériaux nobles: Pierres roses et blanches de la jolie petite carrière de la Couronne, au nord de marseille. On aime son architecture remarquable avec ses différents étages d'arcades.

Located in the heart of Marseille Panier, the old Charity is one of the main historical monuments of the city, and one of the most remarkable as well. It was built in the second half of the seventeenth century to cope with the increasing number of poor and sick in noble materials: pink and white stones from the lovely career crown, north of Marseille. We like its distinctive architecture with its various levels of arcades.

En 1640, la ville de Marseille décide de faire construire la vieille charité pour y accueillir les mendiants.C'est le célèbre Pierre Puget qui se charge de l'édifier. Sa coupole ovale domine le quartier du Panier. La chapelle est entourée par quatre ailes de bâtiments faits de galeries. Ces derniers abritent une librairie, les musées principaux (archéologie méditerranéenne, arts africains...),le cinéma Le Miroir, le centre internationale de poésie. Le prix de l'entrée est de 3€ (plein tarif) sauf le dimanche matin (gratuit).

In 1640, the city of Marseille decided to build the old charity to receive the mendiants.C there is the famous Pierre Puget who is responsible for the building. Its oval dome dominates the Panier district. The chapel is surrounded by four wings of buildings made of galleries. These are home to a library, the main museums (archeology Mediterranean, African arts ...), film The Mirror, the international center of poetry. The entrance fee is 3 € (full price) except Sunday morning (free).

La vieille Charité est aujourd'hui un espace culturel offrant de nombreuses expositions plus intéressantes les une que les autres et un lieu chargé d'histoire: anciennement hospice. C'est avant tout à mes yeux, une bâtisse offrant calme et fraicheur. Un endroit reposant ou vous vous verrez flâner, profitant de l'architecture.

The old Charity is now a cultural center with many more interesting one than the other and a place steeped in history exhibitions formerly hospice. It is above all in my eyes, a building offering peace and freshness. A relaxing stroll or you will be taking advantage of the architecture.

Tout particulièrement la salle Art Africain qui nous offre à voir quelques beaux masques comme ce masque Gnil de la société fang du gabon , ou encore ce masque Punu . Visitez aussi la salle Egypte qui bénéficie d'une très belle muséographie .

Especially living African Art that gives us to see some beautiful masks as Gnil mask of blood Gabon society, or the mask Punu. Visit also the Egyptian room which has a beautiful museum.
