This seventeenth-century church is situated next to a convent of the Order of the Minims. It was burned down during the Spanish Civil War and never rebuilt. All that remains of the convent is the west facade, which has been rebuilt with gray stone from the Motril the Cerro del Toro quarry. The Minims Order altarpiece was remodeled by the Augustinian friars. During the occupation of Motril, the convent was converted into a military barracks.
