Roland Flutet
A World Heritage Site
Studley Royal Park covers acres of forest, garden and landscaped channels, and what you see today is quite different from what stood when the area was home just to the Fountains Abbey. In the nineteenth century, the Victorians renovated the ancient ruins, turning the site into a romantic place. They built stone monuments in the classical style, and added tunnels and other features. This is one of the reasons why this site was declared a World Heritage Site!
