Behind an unwelcoming facade, the Victoria Hotel is an old colonial house in the centre of Cairo that makes a great place to stay. You're right in the heart of downtown Cairo, a lively area filled with shops and businesses. A 15 minute walk will take you to Ramses Station, where trains run to Alexandria and the Nile Valley. Other points of interest are no more than a 15-20 minute taxi ride away, and there are always drivers waiting in front.
