To feed the sacred fire
The Via of the Curetos was one of the main arteries of Ephesus, and it descended from the center to the harbor (now dry). The guide told us that Curetos are descended from the ancient Cretans and that the Prytaneum priests carried firewood to feed the sacred fire.
