Charming

…from the top of a hill, Vejer controls a beautiful green extension. It is logical to think that its inhabitants are influenced by this, so it is easy to understand that they built this beautiful town. You have to stop here for a few days to enjoy its people, gastronomy and beauty…

We climbed, descended, got lost on this beautiful and charming town and with an interesting history, like the rest of the towns called “from the Frontier” in Cadiz.

A Well Kept Secret

This fairy tale town seems as if it “escaped” from the bunch of white towns of the Sierra de Grazalema. And I say escaped because it is similar in the whiteness and beauty, although it is by itself and more to the south, on a hill 9 km from the Costa de la Luz. This town of Arab origin charms by day and makes you fall in love by night. From the peaceful square surrounded by palm trees with a fountain, Vejer, made of light and blue sky, is a labyrinth of narrow streets that go up, down, bifurcate, disappear and appear again. The whitewashed houses, some of them converted in boutique hotels and restaurants, invite you to go in and enjoy the cool of its patios, the aroma of its flowers and the silence of its siestas.

Vejer is one of those corners that should be kept secret.

White Towns

Vejer is one of those towns in Andalucía that amaze you…the truth is that I was surprised; I didn’t expect to find such a beautiful place. It was declared historical-artistic complex in 1976.

You can tell the Muslim origin by its narrow streets and winding paths. And also in more evident traces like some arched doors, the wall…Vejer de la Frontera was occupied by Muslims for more than 5 centuries and it was called Besher. It is so nice to go up and down its streets and alleys, between the whitewashed walls that I like so much, admiring the patios full of plants and flowers, the aesthetics

Of Andalucía.

A Charming Town Near Cádiz

This town in Cadiz deserves a visit, at least one morning or afternoon. It is located on a hill from where you have views of the province.

We discovered it “by mistake” while driving and seeing it from the lower part of the hill. We went to the Tourist Office and they told us that at 12 they had a guided tour along its streets. It was only 2 Euros so we tagged along. They guide explained its history and very interesting anecdotes.

A Charming White Town

Excellent

Every time I visit Cadiz I visit this beautiful town. The light of this town fills me with energy: its small whitewashed streets make the light of the sun bounce all over its corners. You will discover open gates that will give way to beautiful patios full of flowerpots that contrast with the white of the town.

Great hikes

Excellent

Nice cute streets, amazing view points and lots of wineries and oliverys

Vejer de la Frontera is a town in the...

Vejer de la Frontera is a town in the province of Cadiz, Andalusia. Although the village is situated off the interior land, the area of this municipality stretches up to Vejer an opening on the Ocan Atlantic, with several kilometers of beaches that make Vejer balnaire a recognized destination. It is a beautiful typical Andalusian white village, perched on a hill and enjoys a tense panorama (on a clear day you can see the coasts of Morocco). This is an interlacing of narrow steep streets. Moreover, Vejer is not too "disfigured" by mass tourism and remains a very quiet village.

A very nice white people for a weekend of peace and quiet.

White Callejas 8 kilometers from the sea

In the famous 'white villages route', Vejer is breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL. Although the thermometer more than 30 degrees, but the streets are so steep that instead of a walk seems a spinning class and although the 3G fails in some points of the village ... WORTH. Without thinking: there you go. Any corner of Vejer is a delight for the senses. Mires look to where everything is black and its streets harbor shops of typical products (eye, expensive) where one can stand wedge, red zone and the famous 'butter colorá' whiskers up :) (reference gastronomic Mantequeria DE PACO MELERO)

Impolite, white, delicious

Impoluto, blanco, delicioso

The bad weather has given me this beautiful and charming place that I had heard about but had not planned to visit on my route along the beaches of the Cadiz coast. A day without sun and a road that "passed by" have been conjured to know this white town that is presented as one of the most beautiful in Andalusia. In my case, I"ve been one morning, wandering around, without a map, without a fine route, letting myself be carried away. You have everything, castle, churches, cobbled streets, walls, towers and even a Jewish neighborhood. Impolite, white, delicious. Beautiful. Divert from your route and visit it. I do not know if it"s the prettiest, but it sure is in the Top 5.

The white villages

A place to make your dreams

Although Vejer is fashionable, and there are quite number of tourists - many of them even get to live - is a place that brings together everything you need to have a unique experience. A small village with hospitable people, but located on a hill near the atlantic ocean with unique beaches and very unique landscapes. Good food, with the latest local, pleasant climate throughout the year, a very significant historical and cultural heritage, and insist a very special place to have the best experiences.

Vejer is the best place to unwind from the daily chores. Tranquility, a beautiful village, the whitest among nonwhites, high on a hill overlooking all Cadiz. And with its beach about 10 km makes it perfect for a quiet village, yet perfect for the sand ...

As he walked through the streets of Vejer, aimlessly, suffering the terrible heat, but enjoying the little corners that I was finding, and was keeping in my camera. And this I show in this photo is one of the ones I liked. I took my time to measure both the exposure, and to write all levels within the dynamic range. The photo is not retouched in any way, is the original, as they left the chamber. A greeting. Hope you like.
