Vat Phu

Questo grande complesso khmer è sito a soli 10 km da [poi=84991]Champasak[/poi] e si estende oltre un chilometro in lunghezza e qualche centinaia di metri in altezza. Un lungo corridoio aperto conduce all'inizio delle rampe di scale: altissimi e sconnessi gradini si alternatano ad altri stretti e bucherellati. Il complesso è patrimonio Unesco e Vat Phu significa tempio della montagna in lingua laotiana ed è infatti sito sul monte Kao. Il tempio principale è sovrastato dal lingam, la tipica forma fallica con cui veniva adorato il Dio shiva nella religione induista, Dio al quale il tempio è dedicato. La strada khmer che parte dal grandissimo complesso di Angkor wat in Cambogia, giunge fin qui! Dopo aver salito le decine di scalini si giunge finalmente dinanzi all'edificio principale. Gli ingressi sono sormontati da decorazioni di guardiani e all'interno si trova una grossa statua di Buddha (il tempio è stato convertito come luogo di culto per il buddismo theravada praticato nel Laos). Dietro l'edificio principale, una fonte considerata sacra, sgorga dal sottosuolo. Il panorama da quassù è bellissimo!L'ingresso costa 30000 kip ed è curioso sapere che anche una delegazione di esperti d'arte italiani stanno collaborando alla ristrutturazione di uno dei templi secondari.

This large complex Khmer is located just 10 km from [then = 84991] Champasak [/ then] and extends over a kilometer in length and a few hundred meters in height. The road that starts from the Khmer huge complex of Angkor wat in Cambodia, comes this far! After climbing the dozens of steps before you finally come to the main building. The inputs are topped with decorations guards and inside there is a large statue of Buddha (the temple was converted as a place of worship for the Theravada Buddhism practiced in Laos). Behind the main building, a source considered sacred, come from underground. The view from up here is beautiful! Entrance costs 30,000 kip and is curious to know that a delegation of Italian art experts are collaborating to the restructuring of one of the branch temples.
