Valea Viilor Fort
The fort of Valea Viilor dominates this beautiful Transylvanian town, and has been part of a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999. The fort, as is the case in most Saxon villages, surrounds the church, which was the work of art of the inhabitants, a symbol of power and wealth. The Saxons came from Germany with their beliefs, and not as the Romanian Roman Catholics but Protestants. The church is surrounded by the oval enclosure with high walls, 8 feet high.
