Tuscania Address

4 reviews of Tuscania

very beautiful indeed!

Arriving by boat to the Italian port of Civitavecchia (port of Rome) we decided to take a look around the surroundings instead of traveling to Rome. We prefer to see new places and therefore selected the city of Tuscany, as it is the cradle of Roman civilization. This is a very small town, with a total of just 8000 inhabitants and it is situated in the province of Viterbo. Tuscany is extremely old and has a very long history. It is a very important Etruscan settlement (the Etruscans were an ancient people whose geographic core was based in Tuscany, where it got its name from) but it was also very important to the Roman Empire, and its name may be due to an old Tuscan legend which says that it was founded by Ascanius, son of Aeneas, on the place where they found twelve puppies, hence the Latin name Your-American, the Latin name Your-cana.

The streets are very quaint with old facades, but the most spectacular thing to see are the views of the surroundings, where you can see great old buildings amidst large, green meadows, very beautiful indeed! The place is inhabited and life flows like it does it any small town, but the surrounding area will show its great ancient history and memories of an unforgettable Empire.
