1 review of Trois Rivières

Interesting scenery

The small town of Trois-Rivières is just outside of Saint-Laurent, and gets it's name from the presence of islands that are found where the Saint maurice river meets the saint Laurent river. The city itself is quite small: it has a very small center, centered around the main street "Rue des Forges", where the majority of shops, bars and restaurants are found. Outside the city center is where the larger malls will be. The river is just steps away from the end of the Rue des Forges, with interesting scenery, natural but industrial, because the city was born with ironworks and papermills (strange smells still from time to time). In winter the city did not seem to offer much appeal, I hear it's better to visit in summer. When you can do the riverside bike that is priceless, and see seasonal festivals (poetry, art, ...). .. open all year are several art galleries (the tourist office will give information). In short, If you don't have the time skip it but if you are going slowly, it is good choice between Quebec and Montreal!

The small town of Trois-Rivières is on the edge of Saint-Laurent, and owes its name to the presence of islands in the place where the river Saint maurice checks the saint Laurent. The city itself is quite small: it has a very narrow center where you will find the majority of shops, bars and restaurants. On the outskirts you will find bigger commercial centres. The river is just metres away from the end of the Rue des Forges, with interesting natural scenes. But also, because the city is industrial there are strange smells from time to time. In winter the city did not seem very appealing. I hear it's better to visit in the summer. The riverside bike ride is priceless, and are seasonal festivals of poetry, art and more. Of note there are several art galleries that are open all year round. You can get information from the tourist office. In short, it's a place you can forget if you only spend a short time there but if you have more time, it's an option between Quebec and Montreal!
