The art of dying in Manhattan
The cemetery of Trinity Church, located at 155th Street and Riverside on the grounds of Trinity Church, is the only active cemetery on the island of Manhattan. With the rising price of land on the island, it has been necessary to dig up the majority of those buried under the city, but after many years of official and unofficial burials, there are still many remains scattered under what are now the streets and skyscrapers of the Big Apple. The Trinity Cemetery is the only official cemetery remaining. Upon entering, we were met with blank stares from the skulls that hover over the 17th and 18th-century graves.
