Trekking by the Tatras
From the shelter of Zakopane several routes can be made interesting by the high Tatras or the Polish Tatras. It is not very complicated because it is well mapped and all you need is a map, good shoes and, if done in the summer, lots of water. The upward slopes are steep and hard at the beginning, but then the uphill tapers off and gets more relaxed and calm. Besides, the routes are not excessively long, so you can take it easy and make stops to enjoy the scenery. I went on two different routes: one that leads to Kasprowy Wierch (taking the cable car) and the crossing of the lakes until Czasny Basienicowy.
These treks across lakes, valleys, waterfalls, flower fields, caves ... and the brtual landscape changes at every turn. Apart from the great scenery, these routes are worth it to see another aspect of Poland, a side more natural and less sad, and meeting the inhabitants of these mountain areas is quite fun. Children, nuns and hermits look you and aren't sure why you are going so slow, why you jump from rock to rock, and wear such a complicated backpack that you don't need.
