1 review of Towers Walk

Another image of the Alhambra

Excellent

An interesting walk links the space from the Nasrid Palaces to the Generalife, through what they call upper Alhambra.

Leaving behind the impressions and sensations caused by the palaces, we go outside to walk parallel along the city wall of the Alhambra. Throughout this stroll we discover a series of towers of different conceptions and styles that surprise for their creativity and legend.

Once in the Partal, we can enjoy the natural beauty of the Torre de las Damas (Ladies Tower) and its reflection in the water. The much pictured Torre de los Picos (Peaks Tower), suspicious and gothic with its battlements finished in small pyramids that can be seen from the San Nicolás gazebo.

Further on we run into the Torres de la Cautiva (Captives) and Torre de las Infantas (Princess), of course full of legends and tales (open to visits only on very special occasions). The first one gets its name from Doña Isabel de Solís, who converted to Islam with the name of Zoraya and was a favourite of the King Mulay Hacén. The other owes its name to the Washington Irving's tale and its legend on princesses Zaida, Zoraida and Zorahaida.

Some of the towers also act as an entrance gate, as is the case with Arrabal gate.

As you can see, it is an interesting stroll that we clear after such architectural intensity that delights us with its precious views to the Sacromonte, the Generalife and the district of Albaicín.

The entire area is also known as Camino de Ronda since, as I said in the beginning, we walk parallel to the wall of the city. It is another way to discover more facets of the beautiful city of Granada ;-)
