2 reviews of Tower Hill Memorial

monument for deceased marines

It is a war memorial in Trinity Square Gardens, right next to the Tower of London. It is in honor of the Marines and fishermen who died in the World Wars and who don't have a grave. The World War I monument consists of 12 bronze plaques engraved with 12,000 names. It was inaugurated in 1928 by Queen Mary. The World War II monument lists the names of 24,000 Britons and 50 Australians. This monument was inaugurated in 1955 by Elizabeth II. It's worth taking a look especially if you are close by visiting the Tower of London, it's very nice. Ideal to pick up a book, sit on a bench and read for a while.
