Steeped in history
The tourist information center in Rotherham is located in the heart of the city, opposite the Church of All Saints, and at the top of High Street, the pedestrian shopping street. Rotherham was once an industrial town near Sheffield, the capital of British steel. It's a rather sad place, which may not inspire many tourists, cold and rainy ... but it is also steeped in history. It stands next to Hadrian's Wall and, like most cities in the region, has been there for millennia. In addition, Rotherham is next to the Peak District, a beautiful region of mountains, lakes and parks where nature lovers and hikers can find happiness.
