Torrelamata

Ci troviamo nel quartiere di Torrevieja, precisamente nel pueblo di Torrelamata. E’ un nucleo urbanistico caratterizzato principalmente da palazzi che per la maggior parte ospitano i vacanzieri estivi. Il pueblo è delimitato dal Parco Naturale delle Lagune di La Mata e Torrevieja ad ovest e dal Guardamar del Segura a nord. Dalla Piazza de la Mata, la principale della cittadina, ci rechiamo all’ufficio informazioni turistiche passando davanti alla Chiesa di Nostra Signora del Rosario. L’ufficio lo troviamo nello stesso edificio del municipio, ricco di mappe e preziose informazioni per la scoperta della zona. Procediamo verso il mare e giungiamo alla Piazza dell’Imbarcadero, la più rappresentativa di Torrelamata e conosciuta come Torre de La Mata, proprio per la costruzione di una torre nel XIV secolo. La Torre si presenta con tutte le caratteristiche che accomunano le torri della costa di levante, con funzioni di controllo per l’avvistamento dei berberi e dei pirati che attaccavano incessantemente il litorale. A lato della torre possiamo vedere il canal salinero, costruito nel 1928 che permette l’ingresso delle acque nella laguna de la Mata.

La Torre comes with all the features shared by the towers of the east coast, with control functions for a sighting of the Berbers and pirates who constantly attacked the coast. To the side of the tower we can see the canal salinero, built in 1928 that allows the entrance of water in the lagoon de la Mata.
