Torre dei Donati

Costruita con pianta quadrangolare, la torre dei Donati si trova in via del Corso ai numeri 31-33 rosso, proprio nel cuore di Firenze. La torre è perfettamente inserita tra gli altri edifici che si trovano sulla strada, ma a distinguerla è il filaretto realizzato con pietra a vista e le buche pontaie, dove un tempo si mettevano le travi in legno per le impalcature. Una lapide dantesca posta sulla torre ricorda la fine di Corso Donati. La rivalità tra la famiglia Donati e la famiglia Cerchi si spinse talmente tanto da lottare per costruire la torre più alta. Le lotte si fecero aspre e il comune eseguì il taglio di un vicolo-cuscinetto, detto vicolo dello scandalo, che tuttora si può vedere a destra della Torre dei Donati.

Built with square plan, the tower of Donati is located in Via del Corso to the red numbers 31-33, right in the heart of Florence. The tower is perfectly sandwiched between other buildings that are on the road, but to distinguish it is the filaretto made with stone walls and scaffolding holes, where once you put the wooden beams for the scaffolding.
