Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
The tomb of the Unknown Soldier is situated in a triple arch, all that remains of the colonnade of the Saxon Palace, destroyed in World War II. It is guarded night and day, summer and winter by two soldiers who stand guard impervious to snow, the cold, the wind and the cameras of tourists. On November 2, 1925 an unknown victim of the battle for the defense of the city of Lvov (now in Ukraine) was buried there, and there are also a large bronze container with soil from all the places where the Polish army fought their battles.
