A Hidden Hamlet
Tisa lies in the northern part of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh, India. As it borders the state of Jammu and Kashmir, it is a sensitive area and remains on patrol throughout the year. But it is heaven. Situated at a height of approx. 2100 meters, it is an alpine village and most part of the year remains cold.
It is also a gateway to the tribal valley of Pangi which is cut off for the entire winter. It welcomes but few who are adventurous and have a niche for hiking. For mountaineers and hikers, it is heaven. No trouble with stay as the government has constructed rest houses and there are some private guest houses.
Villagers are friendly and many stay with them.
