Monument of Leonidas
On the road from Lamia to Athens we found what was once the pass of Thermopylae. Today the sea has retreated enough and now there is a highway. There is a monument erected in memory of Leonidas and his 300 Spartans who fought heroically against the Persians. In addition to the monument, across the highway you can see what was the battlefield, the passage itself and the sulphurous hot water cascading off the mountain, where one can take a relaxing bath.
