The Whangie

In the area between Glasgow and Loch Lomond South there are many interesting routes for hikers and mountain climbers. This path, accessed by the southern point of the natural park called Queen's View, is commonly known as The Whangie, part of the Kilpatrick Hills, which forms a small mountain range in the vicinity of the area called Auchengillan. This route spans a round trip of 9 km by a well marked trail that becomes complicated as you ascend, until we got to the so-called Whangie itself which is a kind of rock formation, in which there trees but mostly a nice view (weather permitting) of Loch Lomond, The Campsies and the start the Highlaneds.

The difficulty depends on the group and the season but make sure that you take appropriate footwear regardless. It is easy to park the car. A great choice for a Sunday to enjoy views of the Scottish countryside.
