Art Nouveau tower
One of the most striking monuments on Margaret Island is the Water Tower. The octagonal Art Nouveau tower measures 57 meters high and was built in 1911 to supply water to the Danubius Hotel on Margaret Island, a popular hotel among the European aristocracy a the time. Today, the tower is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is used as a viewpoint and exhibition hall. It is, though, in rather rough shape and is in desperate need of repairs.
