The Old Water Tower
Before leaving the lovely city of Wismar, something caught our attention. It was clear that there was a church, but neither seemed one of the defense towers that was in the city, so the best approach was to investigate. It ended up being an old building leading into the drinking water from pipes, which supplied the then growing city. The look is solid, inspired by the strengths. And so it should be, since the control of water and sanitation was an important thing for these cities in northern Germany, as we shall see in others.
