Hoi An - a magical box of memories
We were almost half way through our tour of Vietnam, when we got to Hoi An, a small, colourful and coastal town. The most surprising thing about Hoi An was seeing the constant bustle of tourists going shopping, or the numerous high powered men in the tailor shops on the streets. When we arrived in the town, they were still celebrating the New Year, and it was quite interesting to see couples (mostly who were about 60 years old) who were Vietnamese and American; the couples that got tegether during a cruel war .. And who came to spend the New Year with family. Walking through the streets of Hoi An, with its shops, its artists offering their paintings, its fruit market and the friendliness and the welcome given by the people living there, makes it the perfect place to rest for a few days and to prepare for travelling on to the "highlight" of Vietnam ..
