GERARD DECQ
A well known neighborhood
In San Francisco, the facades of these wooden houses in Alamo Square make a real contrast with the skyscrapers of the Financial District. Called "painted ladies", these Victorian and Edwardian houses, built between 1849 and 1915, are painted in pastel tones, pink, green and blue, almost like ice cream! The row of the Alamo Square has the nickname "Seven Sisters". At first you may only count six houses, but the "block" actually begins at the corner, so seven is the correct number.
