Promises on the Horizon
7 km away from the pink rocks of Ploumanac'h, the Sept-Iles divide their granitic chaos between Rouzic, Les Costans, Malban, Bono, the Isle aux Moines, the Plate and Les Cerfs island. At high tide the land expands to forty hectares. The archipelago was named a National Park in 1912 and then as a Nature Reserve in 1976. With over 20,000 pairs of seabirds and 27 species nesting it is probably the most important reserve on the French coast. It is a sanctuary for the birds before their long migrations. From Trestraou, in Perros-Guirec, there are sailing excursions into this fascinating world, with a scheduled stop on the Isle aux Moines and an unforgettable view of the Pink Granite Coast.
