The oldest bar in San Francisco
If you're a lover of Blues, this is a place that you can not miss if you find yourself in the wonderful city of San Francisco. I was lucky to live only five minutes away from this great place. Just walking through the door was a show. The Saloon is known as the oldest bar in San Francisco. Even during the fires that occurred after the great earthquake of 1906, people rushed to save this place, which was then a brothel. The clientele ranges from authentic 70 year old hippies, to rockers and very genuine people. The bar smells horrible, but it's all part of the charm. The legendary owner has a graying ponytail and tattoos on his arms.
The beer is cheap, as they are $3 plus tip, and there's daily live music. When we talk about the USA, there's no denying that they carry the blues in their blood. Saxophones, electric guitars and deep African American voices will ensure you have a great time at this bar in the heart of North beach which, in my opinion, is one of the best neighborhoods in San Francisco. 1, 2, 3 let's blues!
